Mary Magdalene, as imagined by Spanish painter El Greco, (born 1541 C.E., in Crete, Republic of Venice; died in 1614). Notice he gave her red hair. At the time of this painting, the Roman Catholic Church still branded her a prostitute, since Pope Gregory the Great, circa 600 C.E. The Church did not correct Gregory's pronouncement about Magdalene until 1969. What happened to ex cathedra (papal infallibility)? The Huntington Library, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, CA 91108. Magdalene's Witness, copyright 2008 by Robert Heard. Of the 18 books Robert Heard authored (with two more planned), he regards Magdalene's Witness as his magnum opus. Not yet published because the book is controversial, which wouldn't be a problem if Heard possessed a national name like a David McCullough or a Stephen Ambrose. However, until Magdalene's Witness is published nationally, it is available from the author in photocopy, 8-1/2 X 11 paper, spiral binding, for $39.50 (photocopying is more than half the charge). The photocopy runs 186 pages for the text, 14 pages with El Greco's painting, the dedication, the list of books by Heard (including the two more he plans), and the table of contents. There is a 39-page bibliography in which Heard frequently tells the reader what he thinks of certain books, praiseworthy or critical, as Heard's best teacher, the late (2007, at age 97) Dr. Ralph Lynn (to whom the book is dedicated) urged writers to pen (otherwise, how can a reader judge the influence a book exerted on the author?). Lynn read an earlier version of Magdalene's Witness, knew of its dedication to him and offered suggestions. The book also contains a two-column, detailed index that runs 60 pages. Altogether, the book contains 163,672 words. Send your check to Robert or Elizabeth Heard, 1022 Bonham Terrace, Austin TX 78704-2605-02.

If you know a literary agent or have a contact with a national publisher, please tell them about this book. A good way to do that is to urge them to look at this website while also saying you think it would be worth their while. Thanks.
